The then-reigning Indy Lights Champion, Ed Jones took the Verizon IndyCar Circuit by storm. He started the Indianapolis 500 in 11th grid place, having averaged an impressive 230.578mph in qualifying. It was an extraordinary achievement for a Rookie Driver, and represented years of dedication and training.

Who is Ed Jones?

Ed first made his mark on the racing circuit at 11, when he won the National UAE karting championship in 2006.

He progressed to the Intersteps Championship in 2011, finishing fourth place in his debut year. From here, he moved up to Formula Renault and Formula 3, and 2013 saw him crowned the youngest European F3 Open Series Champion in history.

His success caught the eye of the legendary Carlin FIA European F3 Team. Ed joined them in 2014, securing five podium finishes and two pole positions before moving over to Carlin’s IndyLight Team in 2015.

The following year, he joined Dale Coyne Racing, finishing the season as the championship winner. 2017 saw his IndyCar debut season – Ed was one of the favourites to claim the Rookie of the Year title.
